KBC merges into FBC

In February 2024, First Baptist of Sycamore warmly welcomed the congregation of Kishwaukee Bible Church into its church family, marking a significant and joyful moment in the life of both congregations. Kishwaukee Bible Church, with a rich 30-year history in DeKalb and Sycamore, has been dedicated to serving Jesus and the local community.

Beginning in late 2023, the leadership teams of both FBC and KBC engaged in prayerful discussions about our common heart to follow our Lord, Jesus Christ. It became clear that joining forces would enhance our stewardship of resources and best serve our heartfelt commitment to serve our community more effectively with the gospel.

The journey of KBC has been a testament to God’s faithfulness, as we have seen Him move in powerful ways, planting seeds of faith and nurturing them to growth. Together, we carry forward this legacy, not leaving behind the history of either church but building upon both. The same spirit of dedication and service that defined KBC for three decades now enriches the fabric of our new church family at First Baptist.

This merger is a celebration of unity in the body of Christ. In a world where division is all too common, we stand together as a testament to the power of the gospel to bring people together. We share a vision and values deeply rooted in Christ’s love and teachings, and we look forward to the opportunities this partnership will bring.

As we move forward, we are excited about the ways we can serve Sycamore, DeKalb, and the surrounding communities. We pray that God will use us, individually and collectively, to draw people to Jesus Christ.
